An Introduction From Our Director of Community Care

I’m Art, our new Director of Community Care. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Revoice in the past, as a conference speaker and webinar host. I’m a lover of fine coffee and tea, and have an unhealthy obsession with breakfast cereal. I immigrated from Brazil with my parents when I was 4 years old, and have lived in New Jersey since. I live with my best friend/chosen brother, and we tend to spend our free time watching Marvel movies and playing board games.

On a more serious note, I’ve spent the past decade working in local church youth ministry, predominately in the suburbs. Between my immigration background and my experience as a sexual minority, I love to build bridges between different communities. I especially have a heart for community and friendship in the Church. As you might imagine, this is a bit of a dream job!

Community Care: Where We’re Going

I’m honored to lead this new Revoice initiative. If you’ve been to the conference, you may have experienced what so many of us do when we first attend – a sense of family, of connection, and of feeling,“I may not be alone in all this!” That’s how I felt reading my first Side B book, and that feeling has only grown as I’ve attended events, made friends across the world, and shared more of my own story.

We want to make this sense of community and connection increasingly accessible. This year, our goal is to launch 10 regional chapters across the country, while also adding to our online care group offerings. We’ve heard so many stories from those of you who’ve been encouraged by our existing groups, and we’re excited to expand the care we offer.
